Ion Glass installed new glass balustrading at Windsor Boys School, refurbishing the central library stairwell with a post and rail glass system. The glass balustrades replace the original steel cable system to ensure the staircase is compliant with recent changes to building regulations - staircases within schools can no longer have balustrading systems that can be easily climbed.

Ion Glass technicians carried out surveys and templating for accurate measures and sizes, through to final installation, all before the beginning of new school term. The glass balustrades are manufactured using 12mm toughened glass - made to measure - secured with a sturdy and robust stainless steel post and rail system.

"...thank you for the balustrade changes, your fitters have made a fantastic job and it looks so much better than before. I am very pleased with the outcome and I thank you for delivering and installing before the beginning of our new term."

Glass balustrading creates the illusion of space and allows light to flow throughout the stairwell. The new balustrade also integrates perfectly with the existing glass designs to the upper section of the School's staircase (also bespoke made by Ion Glass).
