When specifying for a Changing Room refurb, there are many more options available to Designers and Architects than traditional melamine cubicles and cream tiling. New frameless glass products are making a splash to many changing areas with frosted glass cubicles, colour coated worktops and wall cladding and luxurious privacy screens with decorative glass finishes.

Architectural glass has emerged in recent years as an extremely versatile, stylish and easy to maintain material for use in Hotels, Leisure Centres and Gyms which require clever designs in their Changing Areas. Gone are the days when one size fits all, bespoke architectural glass is flexible to your needs rather than sourcing an off the shelf product that may meet your criteria. Architects and Designers can determine, shape, thickness, size, finish, decorative treatments and bespoke metalwork to create a completely individual product.

Glass Cubicles and Glass Doors are made with minimal metal work and a range of concealed fixings, providing futuristic, minimalist style. Glass comes in a range of finishes including sandblasted glass to create an opaque, frosted (& wholly private) effect, coloured or tinted glass and laminates where you are actually able to insert a pattern or design between two sheets of glass - maybe your Gym or Leisure Centre's logo and branding.

ION Glass have a range of glass types available including their renowned Colorglaze collection which can be matched to any RAL or Dulux reference. Glass is typically made to 8mm thickness and always toughened to comply with health and safety regulations, thicker glass can be manufactured if required.

Frameless Glass Screens, and Wall Cladding can be designed and manufactured from floor to ceiling, creating glass that is easy to clean and visually stunning as there are no fixings on show, ION Glass design and install the custom made screens and apply PermaClean, an anti-grime treatment at manufacture for minimal cleaning. Glass also offers the elusive option in creating space and light from glass itself, tinted glass screens can create partial screening whilst injecting subtle colour and light to changing rooms or you can specify partially sandblasted glass to give an opaque finish with a stylish design feature - for example stripes, polka dots or a full frosted effect.

Tiling can be replaced with Coloured Glass Panels, a simple and effective way to install colour coding and design. Consider also that glass panels and worktops require no grouting and can be totally made to measure with integrated cut-outs for taps, lighting, mirrors and sinks to fit perfectly. For a full range of colours and technical information, Colorglaze are experts in the field.

Sourcing an Architectural Glass Specialist such as ION Glass is advisable due to the complexities in specifying glass to be fully compliant with health and safety regulations. ION recently installed a set of bespoke Glass Cubicles at David Lloyd Leisure Centres and Black Coloured Wall Cladding at the O2 Arena, London.
